Branded Title

A branded title is a permanent designation placed on a vehicle's title by a state DMV when the vehicle has been involved in a significant event. Common brands include salvage, flood, fire, lemon, odometer rollback, and junk. Branded titles remain with the vehicle permanently and must be disclosed to buyers.

Vehicles with branded titles typically sell for significantly less than clean-title counterparts and can present financing challenges, as many lenders will not finance them. Dealers must ensure proper disclosure during the sale process and verify title status through NMVTIS or a vehicle history report before acquiring branded title vehicles.
