Flood Title

A flood title is assigned to a vehicle that sustained significant water damage and was declared a total loss. The designation is permanent and follows the vehicle in all subsequent sales. Flood-damaged vehicles can suffer long-term electrical issues, mold, corrosion, and structural deterioration.

Flood title vehicles require full disclosure at retail sale and present significant financing challenges. Before acquiring any used vehicle, dealers should run a vehicle history report to catch flood designations that may not be apparent from a visual inspection.
