A junk title is assigned to a vehicle deemed beyond economical repair or unfit for road use, designated for dismantling, recycling, or use as a parts source. Once issued, it cannot be re-registered for road use in the issuing state.
Junk title vehicles cannot be retailed as drivers. Dealers who inadvertently acquire or accept a junk-titled vehicle as a trade-in must understand the limitations on resale and the disclosure requirements before attempting any disposition.
