Open Recall

What is Open Recall?

An open recall is a manufacturer safety recall that has been issued but not yet repaired on a specific vehicle. Initiated by NHTSA or the manufacturer, recall repairs are completed at no cost at authorized dealerships.

Why Open Recall Matters

Dealers should check for open recalls on every used vehicle before acquisition and at the point of retail sale. Open recalls must be disclosed to retail buyers in most states. Completing the recall repair before retail delivery is both a compliance step and a customer confidence builder.
