Run and Drive

What is Run and Drive?

A run and drive designation at auction means the vehicle starts, runs, and can be driven onto and off the auction block under its own power. It distinguishes operable units from those that must be towed or pushed. Run and drive is a minimal operational standard that confirms the vehicle is mobile, but makes no representation about its mechanical condition, reliability, safety, or roadworthiness beyond that basic threshold.

Why Run and Drive Matters

A vehicle that drives onto the block may still have significant mechanical, electrical, or structural issues that are not apparent in a brief moving test. Condition reports, OBD-II diagnostics, undercarriage inspection, and engine audio are all important data points that go well beyond run and drive status.
