State of Charge (SoC) is the measure of how much energy is currently stored in an EV battery relative to its total capacity, expressed as a percentage. It is displayed on the vehicle's dashboard and is the primary indicator for managing charging needs.
SoC at inspection is less important than battery health for appraisal purposes. What matters for used EV valuation is the maximum range available at full charge, determined by the battery's state of health. Dealers should understand the distinction when evaluating and pricing used electric vehicles.
