VIN Etching

VIN etching is the permanent engraving of a vehicle's Vehicle Identification Number onto the windshield and other glass surfaces. The process makes the vehicle less attractive to thieves because the VIN-marked glass is easily traceable and difficult to sell.

VIN etching is one of the more straightforward add-ons and the benefit is real. Engraving the vehicle's VIN on the glass makes it significantly less attractive to thieves, since the marked parts are harder to sell. Some insurers even offer a modest premium discount for etched vehicles.
