ACURA: BRAND VALUE AND MODELS THAT MOVE

In 1986 Honda established their luxury vehicle division, Acura, ahead of their rivals Toyota and Nissan. In an effort to comply with Japanese export restraints, it was more profitable to send more expensive cars to the US, facilitating the need for a more sophisticated brand name.

About Acura

Precision Crafted Performance

With Honda already a well-established global automaker, establishing production and a dealership network was much easier than when Honda had to do it for itself. The brand debuted with two models, a luxury sedan known as the Legend, and a sporty two-door coupe known as the Integra. In 1990, Acura introduced the NSX, which could go head-to-head with some of the best supercars of the era.

There was much fanfare for Acura’s early cars, particularly the Legend, which proved to be an excellent alternative to European brands. Only a few years later, Toyota and Nissan introduced Acura’s counterparts, Lexus and Infiniti, respectively.

Today the brand has grown from its two-vehicle initial offering and carries some of Honda’s latest technologies wrapped up in comfortable and luxurious packages.

Acura at Online Auctions: Most Popular Acuras

The Japanese automaker has a wide array of vehicles to choose from, all of which are very appealing in their respective segments. As such, it may be difficult to know what the most popular picks to look out for at Acura auctions are. While every model is a winner, some are more popular than others. Below we’ve prepared a list of some models you should strongly consider at Acura online auctions.

Acura MDX

Acura MDX

A pioneer of the three-row luxury SUV, the Acura MDX has been turning heads since its introduction in 2000. Providing a wonderful mix of luxury, handling, and utility, it’s no wonder that the MDX is Acura’s best-selling vehicle.

Recently entering its fourth generation, the MDX has received a significant redesign that makes it bolder than ever. Standard on the MDX is a 3.5L V6 making 290 hp. New for the generation is a Type S model, which carries a turbocharged 3.0L V6 that makes 355 hp.

Acura RDX

Acura RDX

The Acura RDX has been a popular pick in the vast crossover market since it first appeared in 2007. The RDX displays the hallmarks of crossovers, striking a great balance that offers plenty of utility without being a chore to drive.

Now in its third generation, the RDX is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder that outputs an impressive 272 hp. Paired with a ten-speed automatic, the RDX can be had as either in FWD or AWD.

Acura TLX

Acura TLX

Serving as the successor to the decades-old TL, RL, and TSX models, the TLX is Acura’s flagship sedan. Appearing in 2014, the TLX serves as a compelling alternative to many European mid-sized luxury sedans.

Already in its second generation, the TLX features a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder making 272 hp as standard. A much more exciting Type-S model is also available for this generation, which features plenty of performance improvements, including a turbocharged 3.0L V6 making 355 hp.

Acura Integra

Acura Integra

A legendary nameplate returned after a 16-year hiatus. Introduced in 1985 and becoming one of the most well-known cheap sports coupes, the Integra was discontinued in 2006 before being revived in 2022. While it's no longer a two-door coupe, the Integra is still worthy of a look despite its four-door fastback appearance.

Powering the Integra is a zippy 1.5L four-cylinder that makes 200 hp. A CVT driving power to the front wheels is standard, but a six-speed manual transmission is also available.

Acura RDX

Other Acura Models

The Acura model range extends beyond the cars mentioned above. As we’ve said before, Acura makes plenty of good cars, and while you should pay more attention to the above cars, that doesn’t mean that you should ignore the rest of the lineup at Acura auctions.
