2018 Toyota RAV4
The 2018 RAV4 closed out the fourth generation, a run recognized for its reliability and strong resale value. Built on a rugged body-on-frame platform, the 2017 4Runner is legendary for longevity. It uses a 4.0-liter V6 engine (270 hp) and averages 17 mpg city / 21 mpg highway. Depending on the trim, it seats five to seven passengers (SR5 and Limited trim levels offer an optional third-row seat).5 J.D. 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser
The 2016 Land Cruiser combines luxury features with Toyota’s hallmark durability. Powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine (381 hp) and paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, it gets about 13 mpg city / 18 mpg highway. Standard three-row seating accommodates eight passengers.7 U.S. News & World Report and Consumer Reports both note this model year’s above-average reliability.8
2020 Toyota Sequoia
The 2020 Sequoia marked the end of a long-running generation that relied on Toyota’s proven 5.7-liter V8 engine (381 hp) with a six-speed automatic. It averages 13 mpg city / 17 mpg highway and seats up to eight passengers.9 U.S. News & World Report gave the 2020 Sequoia an above-average predicted reliability rating, and J.D. Power gave it a 77 out of 100.10
